During the year students and staff from Thomastown West visit local Kinders so students can experience school life in their kinder environment. Children from local kindergartens also have the opportunity to visit Thomastown West.

In August, enrolled students are encouraged to attend our 'PLAY & GROW' sessions. Here they will meet our Prep teachers, participate in fun activities, and make new friends. 

In November, there are three sessions where future prep children can experience school life in more detail. Parents are given vital information regarding school and can ask questions.

Thomastown West Primary School deeply values the partnership between families and the school. That’s why our wellbeing team meets with families before their child begins school. We recognise that parents are their child’s first teachers and possess valuable insights that can help support their child’s learning and wellbeing.

There is also a session in February where children participate in their pre-Prep assessment, allowing teachers to identify your child’s needs and tailor support to help them thrive from the very start.

Parents of future prep children will be notified of transition dates via email and Australia Post.
