What a great start to Term 2! Mrs Young is on a short holiday at the moment, and will be back in week 5. While she’s away, I am in her office, as Acting Principal. Mrs Rocca Acting Assistant Principal, helping with all the day-to-day activities of being and doing my usual jobs. Her and I are very impressed with the learning we have been seeing in the classrooms, and our students and staff all displaying our school values.
There are lots of events happening this term. Please check our whole school newsletters, year level newsletters and keep an eye on Compass and Class Dojo.
School tours and enrolments for 2026
We warmly invite families to enrol their children for Prep in 2026 and begin their exciting learning journey with us. Our school provides a nurturing and engaging environment where every child is supported to thrive. To help you get to know our community and see our classrooms in action, school tours are available on Mondays and Fridays at 10:00am. Come and discover what makes our school a great place to learn, grow, and belong. We look forward to welcoming you!
Camp Success
Our Grade 3–4 camp was a great success, filled with fun, learning, and memorable moments for everyone involved. All students represented our school with pride, consistently demonstrating our school values throughout the experience. From challenging activities like a giant swing and rock climbing, to team-building games, the students embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm and resilience. A big thank you to our dedicated teachers and Education Support Staff who gave their time and energy to make camp such a positive experience, and to our families for their ongoing support—we couldn’t have done it without you! Please see photos later in the newsletter.
Maths teacher training
This term, we’ve been fortunate to have Hanah, our dedicated Maths consultant, continue her impactful work across our school. She has recently modelled a sequence of three engaging lessons in both our Prep–1 and Grade 5–6 classrooms, showcasing effective strategies to deepen students’ mathematical thinking. Following each sequence, Hanah worked closely with teachers to unpack the lessons, reflect on student learning, and collaboratively plan next steps. This professional learning approach—first introduced last term in our Grade 1/2 and 3/4 classes—has proven so valuable that it will be repeated in those year levels again. We’re excited to see the ongoing impact on both teaching practice and student outcomes.
Book Fair
Book Fair is running after school every day currently until Monday. It is open from 3:15-4pm after school finishes. Come in and see the books for sale.
Buddies
Our school buddy classes program has been highly successful. Students from different year levels get to visit their buddy class every 3 weeks for a lesson together. This builds a strong sense of community and engagement. Please see some of the photos of their learning together in the newsletter.
Mother’s Day Breakfast
This morning, our Prep to Grade 2 students celebrated a wonderful Mother's Day Breakfast, and it was a great success! It was heartwarming to see so many mums, carers, and special guests join us for a morning of connection, smiles, and shared moments with their children. A big thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event so special. We wish all our amazing mothers and carers a joyful and relaxing Mother’s Day this weekend—you truly deserve it!
Maths Olympiad
The Maths Olympiad has officially begun, providing an exciting opportunity to extend our confident Grade 5–6 mathematicians. This enrichment program challenges students to apply their problem-solving skills in creative and complex ways. Our enthusiastic participants completed their first test this week, and we were incredibly impressed with their focus, perseverance, and mathematical thinking. We look forward to seeing them continue to grow and thrive through this valuable experience.
MAT Program
This term, some of our Grade 5/6 students have begun a dynamic Martial Arts Training program as part of their physical education. The sessions focus on building strength, coordination, self-discipline, and confidence, all while having fun and staying active. Students have embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, showing great respect and effort during each session. It’s been fantastic to see their skills and teamwork grow, and we’re excited to continue this engaging program throughout the term.

Welcome to Term 2!
As we dive into a new term full of learning and growth, it's also a great time to check in on your child’s overall wellbeing. Every child experiences ups and downs, and understanding how they’re feeling can make a big difference.
One helpful tool is The Children’s Wellbeing Continuum. It offers a simple way to reflect on your child’s social-emotional wellbeing at any point in time. By helping to spot when a child might be struggling, it supports early conversations and actions—before problems become more serious.
Importantly, the Continuum isn’t about diagnosing—it’s about opening up and having safe conversations and encouraging families to seek help early when needed.

WEEK 3
Term Week 2 & 3 Student Attendance Report
As part of the Department of Education Every Day Counts initiative, schools report attendance in percentages. The Government regard 95% as the minimum satisfactory attendance for a school student.
The percentages in the table below indicates the average attendance for each class for this week.
The shaded boxes below indicate which classroom has the highest level of attendance for their year level.
Prep | Week 2 | Week 3 | Year 5/6 | Week 2 | Week 3 |
Room 2 | 85% | 87% | Room 9 | 87% | 90% |
Room 3 | 87% | 90% | Room 10 | 92% | 91% |
Year 1/2 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Room 11 | 87% | 92% |
Room 5 | 91% | 96% | Year 3/4 | Week 2 | Week 3 |
Room 6 | 90% | 88% | Room 15 | 80% | 94% |
At TWPS we want every child to achieve their full potential and we know that parents share this goal. There is a clear link between good attendance and educational achievement. If your child is not in school, on time, as often as possible they will be missing out on many important parts of their
education.
Why is regular attendance at school important?
Regular school attendance will mean that your child has a better chance in life. Your child will achieve better when they go to school all day, every school day...
*they learn better
*they make friends
*they are happier
*they have a brighter future
If your child is sick, of course it is appropriate to keep your child at home but
other ‘days off’ school add up to lost learning. See below:
